  • Middlesex University and North Central London Training Hub – WINNER

The NHS Health and Social Care Careers Fair is an annual event to showcase careers to local students aged 14+ to develop the primary care workforce of today and tomorrow and organised by the North Central London Training Hub team and Middlesex University. The NHS faces significant recruitment challenges and with 350+ careers available, many young people are unaware of the breadth of opportunities. It’s challenging for NHS professionals to support careers events, so students have limited opportunities to engage with them. Our event addresses these challenges by inviting a range of NHS professionals to discuss their career paths with attendees.

  • University of Sheffield & Sheffield Hallam University: Sheffield Immersive City Experience – WINNER

In response to data showing that awareness of Sheffield as a student destination was low across key undergraduate home markets University of Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam University and Sheffield City Council developed and launched a multi-channel marketing campaign. Our primary challenge was a city one, not solely a university issue. Following this an opportunity was identified to extend the success of the campaign and the collaboration between the 3 organisations to UCAS events, with an immersive Sheffield city experience. The first of its kind, this was experiential marketing, giving people a chance to see and feel what Sheffield is really like.

  • University of Huddersfield: Pocket Prospectus – NOMINEE

The University of Huddersfield Pocket Prospectus is a user-friendly, leaner, greener version of our printed prospectus, which signposts to and is supported by enhanced digital content. The project aimed to re-design the prospectus in response to the University’s sustainability aims and digital-first approach, and to deliver the right content to our audience during their journey to HE.

Best Practice Access, Outreach and Student Recruitment Award (sponsored by UK University Search)

  • Guildhall School of Music and Drama: Get Backstage – WINNER

Get Backstage seeks to address a lack of theatre access and awareness of backstage roles for state-educated pupils, and the resultant disparity in BA Production Arts enrolment rates for marginalised young people. It innovatively fuses education and career information, introducing participants to the backstage world through specialised, technical workshops, exclusive industry visits and Q&A’s with students, teachers and theatre professionals. A timely project, given on-going conversation around diversity and fair-access in production and theatre, it had a tangible impact on the confidence, ambition, and next-steps of the participants, and provided a unique opportunity to develop an application portfolio with expert guidance.

  • University of Sunderland: Space Explorers – NOMINEE

Space Explorers is a whole day in-school programme for year 5 pupils using the Aldrin Family Foundation’s Giant Moon and Mars Maps™. Designed and developed by our STEMM Outreach Officer, who joined the institution in November 2022, it was delivered to approximately 250 pupils in eight schools between March and July 2023. The objectives were to increase knowledge of how HE is linked to Space and STEMM careers; discover skills that students develop in HE; and promote positive attitudes to learning for pupils. The project is part of a wider partnership to inspire the next generation of STEMM professionals.

  • University of South Wales: Nursing and Midwifery mock interviews – NOMINEE

Identifying a need for additional support at the interview stage for Nursing and Midwifery applicants, the Student Recruitment Team and Future Students colleagues at University of South Wales introduced a successful mock interview programme for applicants. The scheme received overwhelmingly positive feedback from applicants, lead to increased attendance at interview, and 75% of applicants who took part received an offer from USW, with 72% choosing USW as their firm choice.

  • Writtle University College: New Faces for Farming – NOMINEE

New Faces for Farming was a residential weekend delivered by Writtle University College in collaboration with Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones, MBE, to put an end to the drought in diversity and decline in young people in the farming sector. Delivered between 31st March-2nd April 2023 and followed up with bespoke support, it aimed to raise interest and awareness in young people from primarily global majority backgrounds to address and raise awareness of the concerns regarding the diversity of a declining primary sector.
